Umesh Gupta

Umesh Gupta is Group Director & Chief Human Resource Officer at Max Healthcare. In this role, he leads the organisation’s people and culture agenda, shaping and driving strategies that support business growth, strengthen organisational capability, and enable the delivery of high-quality patient care.

With over 25 years of experience in healthcare human resources, Umesh has built scalable people practices for complex and rapidly growing healthcare organisations, balancing operational excellence with a strong and inclusive workplace culture. His work spans leadership development, talent strategy, and organisational transformation across large, multi- location healthcare operations. He focuses on strengthening leadership capability, developing future-ready talent, and building high-performing teams while fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture that supports learning and patient-centric care. He also champions the use of technology and data to enhance employee experience and organisational effectiveness. 

Prior to joining Max Healthcare, Umesh served as Chief People Officer at Radiant Life Care Private Limited and held the role of Regional Head – Human Resources at Fortis Healthcare, where he led HR strategy during periods of expansion and organisational change.

Umesh is an active member of the Society for Human Resource Management and frequently engages with industry platforms on leadership development, people strategy, and the evolving role of HR in healthcare. His contributions to the profession have been recognised through several industry accolades, including being named among the Top 30 HR Leaders at the Economic Times Fortune Leadership Awards and receiving the Topmost HR Leader Award from the World HRD Congress.
